SLS and Merck team up to give you an enriching webinar on how to make chromatography more sustainable!
Liquid chromatography as we know it, is not perceived as a “green” analytical method as up to now most analyses are performed using acetonitrile and other similar solvents, utilising relatively large dimension columns.
However there are a few possibilities to make chromatography a more “green” technique without compromising the performance of chromatographic separation.
In the webinar we will discuss different possibilities which should lead to a reduction of solvent consumption, for example by using smaller internal diameter columns and/or higher efficiency shorter columns.
Another direction to reduce the ecological footprint of chromatography is to switch to nontoxic mobile phases like bioethanol.
All these options will be thoroughly discussed along with their impact on the chromatography and regulatory compliance.
The webinar will be hosted by Egidijus Machtejevas. Egidijus was born in Kaunas, Lithuania and joined the R&D Department at Merck KGaA in Darmstadt in 2008 where he is currently a Lead Expert in Chromatography Product & Portfolio Management.
With 25 scientific papers and 13 book chapters to his name, his major focus areas include multidimensional liquid chromatography, proteomics and mass spectrometry.
