General description
Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.Benzophenone is widely used in the manufacture of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals for its UV rays absorbing and fragrance retention abilities. Due to its ability to absorb ultraviolet radiations harmful in the form of UVA (320-400 nm) and UVB (290-320 nm), it is effective against skin disorders and skin cancer. It is used in the synthesis of antihistamines, hypnotics, and insecticides and is present as a potential impurity in diphenhydramine hydrochloride, phenytoin bulk powder, and phenytoin dosage forms.
